男女共同参画社会実現へ向けての雇用や政策並びに意思決定過程側面からの考察と提言 What Should be Done to Realize the Men's and Women's Partnership in the Society from the Employment, Policy Making and Decision Making Perspectives? 吉本, 多栄子 ヨシモト, タエコ YOSHIMOTO, Taeko P(論文) The main issue of gender policies in Japan is how to facilitate women's participation in the society; in particular how to promote women's involvement in the decision making process. The newly enacted Act of Men's and Women's Partnership For the Society (Danjo Kyodo Sankaku Shakai Kihon Act) includes the positive action clause in the 2^nd Article. The Act requires efforts from both public and private entities to let women advance to the decision - making positions. However, whether to take positive actions or not depends on organizational discretions; in other words they have no strict legal requirement to do so. In this paper, the past and the current situations of women's advancements and promotions to the decision making positions are examined. The causalities between the historical backgrounds such as gender stereotyping and the women's status in Japan are also argued.
