For example, as the full-time farmers decrease in number year by year, the part-time farmers and non-farming workers are increasing remarkably. Most of non-farming workers commute to jobs outside their hamlets, and many young men have gone out from the villages to be engaged in non-agricultural works in the cities. On the other hand, some full-time farmers in this area, Tukigase village particularly, have enlarged their fields to accomodate the new tea manufacturing with the aid of the national projects.
