This capacity is not thought to be a genetic given but to evolve from infancy through childhood, especially based on interaction with more mature minds. Mentalization involves both a self-reflective and an interpersonal component, and it enables a child to distinguish inner from outer reality and internal mental and emotional processes from interpersonal events. Mentalization is an essential function for psychological development and for mental health.But it is so comprehensive that assessing it is defficult.The author proposes doll play technique as a method of assessing the mentalization of preschool children in this paper. Doll play technique, especially MSSB(the MacArthur Story Stem Battery),is a way of revealing the reprsentational worlds of preschool children. MSSB includes a series of story beginnings(or stems)describing a range of emotionally evocative,realistic family scenes portrayed using dolls and props that children are asked to complete in action and narration.Making a story in MSSB is thought to create emotional meaning, because stoty telling is a narrative for children as it is for adults, in which they reorganize their life events and make sense of them in their own ways. That is why children are though to be engaged in emotional regulationprocesses through making stories, and their responses can be viewed in terms of their emotional tone and the extent to which they help children regulate the emotions stirred up by the story stem. The content of stories and the way of telling stories are coded in seberal ways and evaluated based on emotional and cognitive developmental views. But there is no way to assess the mentalization of children in MSSB. The author made several critique to distinguish the capacity of mentalization from MSSB responses. Moreover he tries applying them to three preshooler's MSSB responses. In the second half of this paper the author reports on and discussed the results.}, pages = {21--38}, title = {人形遊び技法による子どものメンタライゼーションの評価}, volume = {59}, year = {2012}, yomi = {イシタニ, シンイチ} }
