This paper, drawing on the implicit metaphors of on two levels of story-telling and of story-told, offers a new reading of Frankenstein. The monstrosity of the Monster, Victor, and Mary will respectively be shown as a head-on collision of the direct but ambiguous opposites, such as Creator/ Creature,Father/ Son,Culture/ Nature,(Woman)Writer/(Her) Text, and others. By acting out into the story her deep-felt antagonism between being forced to be a and trying to be a ,Mary, like Frankenstein himself, became a progenitor of herself, the author of Frankenstein. Her Monster,in its widest sense, represents the transgression of Frankenstein. Her Monster, in its widest sense,represents the transgression of the boundary between the level of human genealogy/ of story-told and the meta-level of super-human genealogy/ of story-telling. Thus, ati the end of the novel,the Monster is relieved from Mary's threefold narrative frame,to be her\"hideous progeny\"and\"go forth and prosper\" in this world of \"Waking Dreams\" ","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_2_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.18878/00002118","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_2_source_id_13":{"attribute_name":"雑誌書誌ID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN10066294","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_2_text_10":{"attribute_name":"著者所属(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_language":"en","subitem_text_value":"Lecturer of Kobe College, English Department(English Literature)"}]},"item_2_text_2":{"attribute_name":"記事種別(日)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"特集"}]},"item_2_text_3":{"attribute_name":"記事種別(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_language":"en","subitem_text_value":"Special Issue"}]},"item_2_text_9":{"attribute_name":"著者所属(日)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"神戸女学院大学文学部英文学科(イギリス文学)"}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"1993-03-01"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KJ00007679559.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"880.8 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","license_note":"神戸女学院大学\n女性学インスティチュート","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KJ00007679559","url":"https://kobe-c.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2157/files/KJ00007679559.pdf"},"version_id":"7272b92d-65f8-4eb4-8723-bee0b25e5556"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"不在の子宮 -メアリー・シェリーの『フランケンシュタイン』を読む-","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"不在の子宮 -メアリー・シェリーの『フランケンシュタイン』を読む-"},{"subitem_title":"The Absent Womb: A Reading of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"2","owner":"3","path":["282"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"1993-03-01"},"publish_date":"1993-03-01","publish_status":"0","recid":"2157","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["不在の子宮 -メアリー・シェリーの『フランケンシュタイン』を読む-"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":3},"updated":"2023-06-19T11:30:15.780037+00:00"}
