 note = {P(論文), 私が子育てひろばで収録してきたビデオテープには、母親が自分の子ども(言語能力が十分でない乳幼児)を「これ」と呼んでいるやりとりが若干ながら存在する。母親は何のためにこの指示表現を用いるのか。本稿の目的は、会話分析の手法を用いてこの問題を解明することにある。会話分析は人物指示についても研究の蓄積を進めてきた。近年では、人物指示が担っている指示とは別の相互行為的な役割に照準を合わせた研究も登場している。そこからは、この課題に取り組むに当たって、それ自身を含む発言が遂行している行為との関連で指示表現を捉えることの重要性が示唆される。本稿はこの示唆を踏まえた分析を行った。分析ではまず、「これ」が指示された子どもを物として特徴づけていることを確認した。そのうえで「これ」をふくむ発言の遂行している行為を特定し、「これ」の物としての特徴づけとの関係を検討した。結果、「これ」がそれらの行為を補強していることが明らかになった。たとえば、母親は「これ」によって子どもを重い荷物として提示し、子どもを乗せていても長い橋を短時間で渡ることができるミニバイクの馬力の強さを強調していた。「これ」という指示表現だけを取り出すと、母親が子どもに対して愛情を抱いていないがゆえに、そう呼んでいるような印象を受ける。だが、この指示表現をその本来の出所であるやりとりにおいて捉えるなら、子どもへの愛情とはおよそ無関係なそこでの実際上の狙いのために、母親たちはそれを用いていることがわかる。本稿は、そのリアルな生活に即した母親と子どもの関係の把握を会話分析が可能にすることを例証している。, Based on seminal works (Schegloff 1996; Schegloff and Sacks 1979), recent conversation analytic studies have shown that various forms of reference can perform a particular interactional work other than referring to (a) person (s) (e.g. Stivers 2007). Tanya Stivers (2007) observes that we should focus on the relationship between a referring expression and a turn construction unit containing the referring expression to examine the interactional work in question. In this article, I investigate the kind of interactional work a mother is doing when she uses kore (" this") to refer to her child (who is still not old enough to speak as a socially competent person) in conversations. I examine conversational excerpts gathered from two kosodate hiroba (institutions where mothers with very young children visit to have conversations with each other and with staff members) in Osaka. My analysis shows that kore characterizes the child who is referred to as a thing, and this characterization "helps accomplish" (Stivers 2007: 92) or strengthen the actions of the turn construction units containing kore. For instance, a mother represents her child as a heavy load by using kore to refer to him in order to stress how powerful her motorbike is. My findings show that a mother uses kore to refer to her child for practical purposes, and that its use is not related to her love (or lack of it) for her child.},
