It depends on the academic policies of universities and departments. This paper reviews the author’s education practices in fieldwork in India and the relationship between fieldwork and junior/senior seminar. In the last 10 years, this relationship has changed from the understanding of modern India to comparative perspectives of India and other countries, which provide the students with greater opportunities to choose seminars of various disciplines (social welfare, etc.) as well as international relations seminars. The students who participated in fieldwork in India preferred writing their graduation theses on the case study of countries other than India. This tendency should be analyzed not as a decrease of the educational effect of fieldwork but as an increase of the comparative understanding of India and other countries. It can be said that the educational roles and orientations of international fieldwork in university curricula are plural.
