内容記述 | Kobe College Okadayama campus was built because the site of the Suwayama campus was too small. It is also due to the establishment of the Special Sector in 1919. Consequently Kobe College needed a suitable school building as an institution of higher education. During the period between the second half of Taisho and Showa pre-war days, many private schools began going into higher education. Campus-transfers first became popular in those days in Tokyo, Osaka and Kobe. There was a plan for Kobe College to move to Okuradani campus before the Okadayama campus plan, and the basic design for the former was complete. Murphy, who was the designer in charge and was active in New York, designed a Spanish style, associating the climate of Setonaikai with that of the Mediterranean. This was the style adopted in the Okuradani campus. Okadayama campus was designed by Voriez. He originally made two site plans. 0ne plan had a large courtyard in the middle, with student dormitory in the north and an athletic field in the south. The other is the one actually adopted. It puts the school buildings to the south of dormitory and the athletic field. The latter plan was influenced by the arrangement of the house buildings and garden of the summer house which existed there before the campus. That villa was owned by Sakurai, who was the lord of Amagasakiclan. | |||||
