| 内容記述 | The united Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) began in 2005. ESD is now a fundamental slogan of citizenship education. There are three dimensions in the relationship between ESD and other 'adjectival' educations. including the socio-cultural dimension, the environmental dimension, and the economic dimension. The question then arises: Which of the issues associated with these dimensions is strongly linked to students' images of SD (Sustainable Development)? While several ESD enterprises have flourished, a framework to evaluate students' SD attitude and awareness has not been established. This paper reports the results of an investigation of SD images among female students using the word association method. The data of this study show an essential characteristic of students' SD attitude and awareness today. Female students' images of SD seem to be best represented by the words 'Recycle', 'My' items and 'Eco' issues. It is also found that students tend to avoid the use of disposable items and to take environment-friendly actions . On the other hand, they are not much interested in human rights, medical issues, or social systems. The results of this survey reveal that among the three dimensions, female students tend to be most interested in the environmental. They apparently do not discern concrete images relating to the socio -cultural dimension and the economic dimension. It is also suggested that ESD in Japan has mainly progressed in terms of the environmental dimension and its context. | |||||
