| 内容記述 | 日本のほとんどのキリスト教会では、葬式の前夜に特別な儀式が行われる。これらの儀式は「前夜式」や「通夜」、「通夜の祈り」などと呼ばれている。最近の傾向として、前夜式のような儀式の参列者が葬式よりも多くなっているという。このような状況が起こっているのは多くの参列者が前夜式しか来ることができないからである。葬式が行われる日中の時間は彼らにとっては不都合である。そこで教職者は前夜式だけに来る参列者に考慮する必要に迫られた。その結果として、葬式が二度繰り返されているように見えるのである。このような状況をみて、ある一人の牧師が「前夜式は不要である」と提唱している。しかし、前夜式や葬式は遺族や近親者を慰める重要な機会であり、それぞれが独自の役割をもっているのである。われわれは特に前夜式の重要性を明らかにしなければならない。本稿では前夜式の必要性について検討し、キリスト教前夜式を積極的に行うための神学的動機を考察する。キリスト教の各教派は個々の礼拝式文を使っており、日本基督教団、カトリック教会、日本聖公会、日本福音ルーテル教会、カンバーランド長老教会では異なった式文が使われている。それらを通じて前夜式と葬式の違いを確認し、特に前夜式の特徴を明らかにしたい。式文に従うことは重要である。われわれは式文が示す前夜式の目的と指示を知る必要がある。前夜式の中心は祈りであり、前夜式の目的の一つは遺族や近親者のために集まり祈ることである。前夜式は葬式とは異なる特別な祈りの礼拝である。キリスト教会がこの目的を見失わなければ、誰も前夜式が不要であるとは言えないであろう。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Most Christian churches in Japan have a special ritual that is held on the night before a funeral. Such a ritual is called a "Zenya-shiki" (night before service), "Tsuya" (wake, vigil), or "Tsuya no inori" (wake's prayer) among other names. As a recent tendency of these Christian churches, the attendance of rituals like Zenya-shiki is more than a funeral. The reason why this situation has happened is that many mourners can come for only Zenya-shiki. When the funeral is held in the dayitime, it is inconvenient for them. The clergy need to consider mourners who can come for only Zenya-shiki. As a result, the funeral seems to be repeated twice. Because of this situation, a certain clergy has suggested that a Zenya-shiki is unnecessary. However both the Zenya-shiki and the funeral are significant opportunities to console the vereaved, and each has an original role. We must clarify the importance of Zenya- shiki in particular. In this paper the need for a Zenya-shiki is discnssed and the theological motives needed to conduct Christian Zenya-shiki proactively are considered. Each Christian religious sect uses their own individual book for servives. The difference between Zenya-shiki and the funeral is confirmed through them and can be clarified by the characteristics of the Zenya-shiki in particular. Different books of service are utilized by the following five sects: the Nihon Kirisuto Kyodan (The United Church of Christ in Japan), the Catholic Church in Japan, the Nippon Sei Ko Kai, the Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Japan Presbytery). For all Christians in Japan it is important to obey the book of service. We need to know the purpose and intention of Zenya-shiki that these books show us. The center of the Zenya-shiki is prayer. One purpose of Zenya shiki is to gather and pray for the bereaved. Zenya-shiki is a special prayer service that is different from the funeral. If the Christian church does not lose sight of this purpose, no one can say that Zenya-shiki is unnecessary. |
