| 内容記述 | Kenji's first love was when he was in hospital at 18. He loved a nurse who attended him,which inspired and led him to write some poems. This episode assures us that he also was an ordinary man who loves a young girl when he is young just as we do. But it is marvelous that since that first love he kept his chastity to his death and suppressed his sexual desires. His terrible asceticism was beyond our comprehension. It has been often said that his asceticism was due to his piety to religion. Of course this is partly true; but another reason is probably that he was by nature,a poet who is enormously sensitive.To be a poet means that he lives close to the universe, always feeling the delicate nuances of nature. He also is so sympathetic to everything around him, especially those people and animals and others that are very vulnerable and oppressed by the powerful, that he will naturally retire from struggle for food and the female sex. There was something sorrowful about Kenji, which prevents him from perfect enjoyment of nature and every human relationship including love affaires. Even in the case of his first love we can detect his restriction on fully active courtship, imposed by his natural sensitivity. | |||||
