| 内容記述 | 本稿は、多言語で作成した医療に関する質問票調査を実施した、母語話者調査員に対するインタビューを元にした事例報告である。調査員へのインタビューから明らかになった点は、（1）標準的な聴き取り調査の手続きが早い段階で無効化され、調査協力者（回答者）のライフストーリーが語られ始めるということ、（2）日本語中心のコミュニケーションが奨励されることへの異議申し立て、そして（3）日本の医療システムとのかかわりの多寡に関係なく、日常的に、医療にかかわるローカルな文化的実践が行われていることであった。この結果により、（a）日本人調査研究者が企画した調査項目が移住当事者の問題意識とズレが生じている点が明らかになるとともに、（b）母語調査員による調査手続きの逸脱自体が文化的な出来事であり、それによってユニークで重要な移住者の文化的実践が明らかになった、といえよう。異なる文化的実践の理解と受容は、外国籍住民の対等な社会参加と人権の保障につながるため重要である。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | The case study discusses findings based on interviews of native-speaker interviewers who collected quesionnaire data face-to-face with foreign residents in Japan regarding their knowledge and experiences in accessing Japanese medical facilities and resources. The following findings emerged from these interviewers:(1) standard procedure of data collection quickly became invalidated at early stages of the data collection process as respondents tended to interrupt the process by narrating their life stories; (2) feelings of frustration and confusion were expressed regarding the one-sided emphasis of promoting a Japanese language-centered communication as the unquestioned and accepted norm; and (3) local or "alternative" cultural medical practices were being practiced as part of everyday life regardless of the degree of involvement with the Japanese medical system. Findings revealed that (a) there exists a gap between the understanding and assumptions of Japanese researchers who developed the survey items and the foreign residents and cultural informants themselves; (b) the data collection process which involved native-speaker interviewers from the same culture as the respondents, in and of itself proved to be an unusual cultural event in the lives of the respondents, which resulted in revealing in unique and important immigrant cultural practices. Greater understanding and acceptance of different cultural medical practices are essential in guaranteeing equal social participation of foreign residents and in ensuring their fundamental rights. | |||||||||||
