| 内容記述 | It is said that since the early part of the sixteenth century,when Hayashi-Razan was engaged by Tokugawa-Ieyasu,founder of the Shogunate,Confucianism became very influential as a doctrine which maintained the feudal system throughout the age,until the Yushima Mausoleum was established in 1691 as the educational centre under Tokugawa-Tsunayoshi,the fifth Shogun. The Yushima Mausoleum,however,was nothing other than a private institution founded by the Hayashi family,though it was dignified with Shogun's support and worship. The Shogun's government did not have its own educational institution in Yedo. Moreover,Tsunayoshi's encouragement of Confucian study was so fanatical that it exhausted his attendants' patience,as well as that of himself. So that,when Tokugawa-Yoshimune,the eighth Shogun,opened the lecture in the Mausoleum to the public,it s audience was quite small,among them Shogun's retainers being especially few. The use of Confucian doctrine under the Shognate can not be overestimated as it has been hitherto. | |||||
