内容記述 CLAPPING! was composed for the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of the Music Department of Kobe College and had its first performance as the opening piece of the concert that was held to celebrate the establishment of the Department's Dance Course. It is a collaborative piece involving both music and dance, to reflect the collaborative nature of music-making and education.
The creation of CLAPPING! has been a very exciting and thrilling experience for all concerned. As may perhaps be expected with such an innovative and experimental piece, there have been unexpected new discoveries, and of course a great deal of trial and error.
I think I can say that the production has proved to be an occasion for deep joy and new insight for the students involved and, looking back, I believe the exercise has been of real significance as university education. In addition, I myself discovered anew that music is an inexhaustible stimulus to the imagination, inspiring choreographers to scale new heights of visual and physical beauty.
