内容記述 | In this thesis the development of movies, and the meaning of the profession 'Actress' in the 1930's and 40's are discussed. During this period, Korea was under the colonial rule of Japan, which restricted various activities of movies. However, despite such difficult situations, many outstanding screenplays were produced, and actresses splendidly played their roles. At the same time, they symbolized ordinary women's agonies by playing the roles of modern women. The social roles of the actresses in Korea during this era and how they were perceived by Korean modern society are described. In modern Korea, women were struggling not only with discrimination against women (originating in Confucianism), but also with racial discrimination (originating in colonialism). However,women's advance into Korean society started with its modernization during this era. Therefore, the relations between this phenomenon, and the roles of actresses, and a Korean modernity distorted by colonialism should be examined. | |||||
